Who am I?

I am deeply and passionately committed to serving the next generation.

I have a background in education that began even as a high school student when I served as a preschool volunteer. I have continued to volunteer or work in schools ever since. I officially became an educator in the fall of 2011 as a high school English teacher. I have served in schools as a teacher, Dean of Students, Vice Principal, and Principal. Working in small schools, you wear many hats, and I have a unique set of skills and experiences from my work.

I am a descendant of Annie and David Squally, a member of the Puyallup Tribe of Indians, a wife, mother, daughter, and relative. I am an active member of my tribal community and have served my tribal community and the Muckleshoot tribal community in various roles for many years. I gather medicines, sing and dance our traditional songs, and seek to raise my children in our culture.

I am also an active member of my local community as a resident of Tacoma, WA. I have served on various committees and commissions for the City of Tacoma, and even launched a non-profit!

Data-Driven Leadership

As a leader, I use multiple types of data to drive decision-making. I create staff climate surveys, identify areas of support for students, and create plans and build capacity on my team.

Leadership Values

Investing in People

Leadership positions are people-oriented positions. Without relationships, our work is not possible. To support our children, we must build capacity, identify strengths, and create joy.

Community Engagement

Our schools and districts are small communities. To best support our children and the next generation, we must actively engage our families and community members.

Quotes from messages I have received from parents:

“Whatever you all have been doing to help and support her thus far has been working because most of her grades have significantly improved. Thank you.”

“We appreciate the measures you all are taking to teach, protect, and help the kids to understand that it’s not an easy world to navigate as they get older…”

“I concur! This is one of my issues I’ve had in the past because the parents weren’t being made aware until it was too late; so this is great improvement. Have a good rest of your day,”

“Thank you for all that you do.”

Every child deserves to leave our halls with the skills to build any life they dream for themselves.
